Is Obama right to call inequality “the defining challenge of our time”? Katrina vanden Heuvel of The Nation argues yes because it’s unfair and reduces consumer demand and therefore jobs. Rich Lowry of The National Review thinks not because inequality is built into a market economy –“ it may be uncouth but doesn’t hurt anyone.” Then: is Boehner’s tantrum against Tea Party critics of his budget deal a one-off or a strategy?
